Hey, white twentysomething comedy writers: Do you have a kinda fakey-sounding idea for a Twitter account where you "overhear" someone in your close proximity doing funny things that you then describe to the Internet in a slightly superior fashion? Perhaps you too could sell that idea to CBS, which has already made $#*! My Dad Says, picked up Shh ... Don't Tell Steve, and now has purchased Dear Girls Above Me, Charlie McDowell's account of what the dumb party girls in the apartment above him are doing at any given time. Just in case no one is secretly chronicling the Vulture staff's reaction to this news, we are all face-palming pretty hard right now.

The Hobbit Gets its Greenlight with Jackson Directing
The Hobbit has officially been greenlit and has a start date.

After so long, and such back and forth, The Hobbit has finally gotten a greenlight, a director(Peter Jackson), and now an official start date. According to TheWrap.com.
They report that the Lord of the Rings prequel project will begin production in February, as per "an individual close to the" films.
"In the final agreement this week, Jackson's deal was finalized and MGM and Warner Bros. agreed to give the project its greenlight," says the site. Sets have already been built in New Zealand and actors have been on hold for months.
Meanwhile,The New Zealand Herald reports that the decision on whether the production will happen in New Zealand is still at least a week away "and in the hands of Warner Bros. despite a 'useful and productive' meeting today between filmmakers and Actors Equity."

Guillermo del Toro Pitching a Take on ABC's Incredible Hulk Series?
Marvel & ABC's tentative live-action series for the "Incredible Hulk" reportedly already has a pitcher in Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro. Check it out!
The announcement of Marvel Studios teaming up with Disney's ABC network is said to adapt many of Marvel's comic properties into live-action television series. And one of those properties being 'The Incredible Hulk,' the studio is reportedly setting the series as a top priority. And now Io9 is claiming:
"Hulk has a "showrunner wanted" [sign] around its neck, and sources are saying that Guillermo del Toro and Battlestar Galactica producer David Eick will be pitching a take."

The site further claims that ABC had no comment, neither confirming or denying it. But with great CBM titles under his belt, such as Hellboy, it's sequel, and Blade II, what do you think of Guillermo del Toro pitching a weekly Incredible Hulk series?

Jackass 3D Review
So...I set off on my way to a preview screening of Jackass 3D a little over an hour early with this thought in mind, "Surely no one is lined up outside the theater on a Thursday night to watch poo flung at them in high definition and in three dimensions. Everyone is at home watching the live episode of 30 Rock, right?" Well, when I arrived the line had over 250 Jackass fans of every race, color, age group, and tax bracket. It stretched out the doors of the theater and around the corner of the building into dark oblivion. Amazingly, the first person in line was an elderly woman who might just have been left there by her teenage grandsons to hold their place in line while they ran off to huff glue and get loaded on Fruit Punch flavored Four Loko.
I consider for a moment screaming "FIRE!" to disperse the line, but then an opportunity presents itself in the form of the press line forming inside. A ha! If I can only fool the Paramount rep into thinking I'm with the local Bloggerati, I can bypass the line.
So I ran to car to find props and then quickly fashioned a makeshift ipad out of an Etch o' sketch and some fruit stickers, and put on a pair of horned rimmed glasses and hopped in the press line. "Who are you with?" "The Noobnews sir". "Go on in. " Success!
As I watched the rest of the non bogging crowd enter the theater I couldn't help but notice how many children were there and wondered how many would get spanked on their way home for convincing their Spanish speaking only parents to take them to this late night screening of a film that features a man with an RC helicopter tied to his penis and another shooting projectile shit out of his asshole and onto a miniature train set.
I'm not really sure how to review a film like this. It's far from a narrative and barely a documentary. You'll probably laugh at some points and most likely laugh uncontrollably at least once. My moment came when seeing a dwarf super glued to an obese man in the 69 position. But, what is almost a certainty is that you will be gagging. For a moment after watching Steve-o chug a glass full of fat guy ass sweat, one of the camera men begins vomiting all over his equipment and everyone around me was dry heaving and covering their mouths in disgust. For a moment I thought the entire theater was going to turn into one huge re-creation of the pie eating scene from "Stand By Me". The upside though is the 3D looks great. There is literately doo doo flying right at you. One can only wonder what youtube videos will look like in a few years as 3D camera technology trickles down to the consumer market and into the hands of Jackass copy cats.
I can't really recommend you see this film because it will most certainly make you sick or uncomfortable at some point but a lot like the Jackass disclaimer at the beginning of every show which explicitly reminds you not to attempt any of the stunts they perform, isn't that just more of a dare?

Morena Baccarin attended the NYCC last week promoting the television return of her hit show "V". Access Hollywood took the opportunity to ask her about recent rumors regarding her possibly portraying The Wasp in Joss Whedons upcoming Avengers film.
"I wish I had more information for you.”
"All I will say is I will never turn down an opportunity to work with him. He’s one of my favorite people in the world.”
This seems like an unusual response to me. I certainly wouldn't consider this a denial or a confirmation, more like an I'm not at liberty to discuss it at this time. I usually refrain from speculating in my articles but this sounds like there just may be something to these rumors.

Young Peter Parker & Billy Connors Casting Call for Spider-man Reboot Unveiled
Source: Comicbookmovie.com
Sony is reportedly on a hunt for a young Peter Parker, and the son of The Lizard, Billy Connors, for the upcoming Spider-Man reboot. Make the jump for audition specs.
According to Moviehole, Sony launched auditions this morning in search of young actors for their Marc Webb-directed Spider-man reboot. The casting call not only calls for a young Peter Parker, but also a young Billy Conners, whose father Dr. Curt Conners, Welsh actor Rhys Ifans will be playing in the film.

"Sony want[s] a dark-haired Caucasian boy to play actor Peter Parker at age 4 to 6 years old. Ideally, the boy should look a little like Andrew Garfield...In addition, the studio's on the hunt for an actor to play Billy Connors, the son of Dr. Curt Connors... Applicants need be between 8 and 11 years old."
In the comics (via Comicvine), Billy Connors a young boy,is the son of Martha & Curt Connors. He once had cancer but is now a survivor. Billy alongside his mother must suffer the consequences of his father's errors. Billy is put into a foster home after he is cured and retains no love for his father. When Curt becomes the Lizard in "SHED", the Lizard wants to punish Connors and kills Billy who says just before he dies that he always new his dad would kill him.
Anyhow, starring Andrew Garfield as Parker in High school, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, and of course Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors himself, Spider-Man 3D swings into theaters July 3, 2012. From today's news, just knowing the film will be going in a different direction brings great feelings, what do you think?

Bradley Cooper Speaks on 'The Flash' Rumors
The A-Team actor denies the allegations that hes up for the role of Barry Allen in Warner Bros. live-action adaption of The Flash. Check it Out!
Earlier this week, MovieHole claimed that The Hangover's Bradley Cooper was Warner Bros.' top choice to don the tights of Barry Allen, Aka The Flash, in the planned live-action film. Well, Jim Vejvoda from IGN recently caught up with the actor, where after being notified of the rumor, shortly claimed...
Unsurprised by Cooper's response, the film is very early in development with the script due this Christmas. But don't have lack of faith in MovieHole's claim, as they only stated Warner Bros. were considering Cooper, and not exactly offering him the role. So one shouldn't expect him to know much about it - that's if hes telling the truth of course.

New Hulk TV Show In The Works, Cloak And Dagger Also Being Developed
Big news from Marvel's TV department. Not only is a new Hulk TV show in development, but the relatively obscure team of Cloak And Dagger, too. AND, we have a full list of characters that are on Marvel's radar...
After the hugely popular original 70s-80s tv show starring Bill Bixby, Marvel and ABC are brining the not so jolly green giant back to the small screen.
Hulk is one of two projects that are priorities at Marvel Television. Marvel Studio’s TV division which has been operating under the radar since Jeph Loeb took the reins at the end of June. The second hot property is Cloak and Dagger which is being developed as a possible show for ABC Family.
Apparently both shows are in the very early stages of development, Hulk being the front-runner, with Loeb currently meeting with writers to get ideas together for Cloak And Dagger. Word is that Marvel will have a full list and presentation of their planned shows around May. For the moment, here are the characters tickling their fancy..
• Heroes for Hire (focusing on ex-con Luke Cage offering to take on bad guys for a price)
• The Eternals (a race of super-powered beings live amid humanity in secret, inspiring legends)
• Agents of Atlas, Alter Ego (private investigator Jessica Jones takes on cases involving superhumans)
• Moon Knight, the Red Hood (a low-rent criminal discovers a cloak that gives him superpowers)
• Ka-Zar (a Tarzan-type and his saber-toothed tiger must journey to the concrete jungle to seek justice)
• Daughters of the Dragon (a dynamic female duo, one with a bionic arm and the other a granddaughter of a samurai, open a private-detective agency)
• The Punisher (one man wages a war on crime; already adapted as three feature films).
Apparently Punisher is also a definite, but as a cable play, and not for a long while after the two above projects. It's unknown if the shows will link with the movies, or even with each other. Since Marvel have gone to great lengths to establish a shared movie universe, it's a fair bet they might try something similar here.

Rare Footage of Eric Stoltz As Star of 'Back To The Future'
Seeing Michael J. Fox recreate the 'Back To The Future' teaser for the Scream Awards has us a little nostalgic.
But did you know that Michael J. Fox wasn't even originally cast as the star of the 1985 film? Eric Stoltz was the first choice but producers decided to recast the role five weeks into the film's production because they believed something was missing.
See footage of Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly as well as Robert Zemeckis, Steven Spielberg and Bob Gale explaining the switch below. The never before seen clip will be included on the extras for the DVD and Blu-ray release of the trilogy later this month.

Michael J. Fox Recreates the Classic 'Back to the Future' Teaser Trailer
Heavy!
25 years after originally playing Marty McFly, Michael J. Fox has rolled up his jeans, slipped on his mirrored shades, and taken the driver's seat of Doc Brown's DeLorean once again.
It's to promote this year's Spike TV Scream Awards -- where the cast of "Back to the Future" will reunite -- Fox took part in a shot-for-shot recreation of the original teaser trailer for the movie. The video matches the original in nearly every detail, from the tongues sticking out of Fox's Nikes to the pulsating of the time machine's Flux Capacitor.
The reunion at the Scream Awards, airing Tuesday, October 19 on Spike, is just the latest in a flood of "Back to the Future" related nostalgia to hit the Internet recently. Back in July, a hoax that claimed we had reached the date in the future that Marty McFly visited was picked up by celebrity Twitter-ers like Joe Jonas. Then in September it was announced that a new video game based on the movie series was in the works, with Christopher Lloyd reprising his role as Doc Brown. And just this week, the Web got fired up by the first look at footage of Eric Stoltz playing the role of Marty, before he was replaced by Fox. All this is leading up to the release of the "Back to the Future" trilogy on Blu-ray, hitting stores on October 26.
For his part, Michael J. Fox looks healthy and still decades younger than his actual age (he turns 50 next June). He appeared at the closing ceremonies of this year's Winter Olympics with other notable Canadian celebrities. He published his third book called "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Future" (there's that word again). And next month he'll return to TV for a guest role on "The Good Wife."
Here's the original teaser trailer for "Back to the Future" that Fox reshot for the Scream Awards:

"The Way Back" Trailer
In 1941, a group of prisoners from the a camp of the Siberian Gulag escaped and proceeded to spend a year trekking 4000 miles across the various deserts and frozen wastes of Central Asia. They climbed the Himalayas on foot and crossed into British India, where they then separated and disappeared into the population. Now that is a fucking story.
Of course the memoir that tells the story (The Long Walk by SÅ‚awomir Rawicz) might be completely made up. Either that or it’s true, but Rawicz stole some Polish guy’s life story. You can’t make this shit up. Unless you edit a page on Wikipedia, but that would be cheating.
Anyway, they’ve made a movie version of it starring Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Saoirse Ronan, Jim Sturgess and Mark Strong among others. And it looks fantastic.
The Way Back is getting a limited release in December (presumably to qualify for awards season) and a wide release in January.

Alec Baldwin May Be Put In Charge Of The Men In Black
Rip Torn
has decided to spend his waning years as some sort of crazed alcoholic who will probably end up in prison, so that means he’s definitely out of the picture when Men in Black 3 gets up and running. In the previous two movies Torn played Zed, the head of the Men in Black organization. They’ve may have found the perfect replacement. Pajiba says it’s Alec Baldwin.
The genius thing about this is that Baldwin, in addition to being a comedic demi-god, already has experience taking Rip Torn’s job. The two were paired up on 30 Rock, back before Torn went nuts. Alec’s Jack Donaghy character was the apprentice
and successor of Torn’s billionaire corporate mega-mogul. This time he’ll actually end up playing Rip Torn’s predecessor, the head of MIB back in 1969. As we learned a few months ago Men in Black 3 will involve time travel.
According to the report Baldwin is currently in negotiations to join the cast, as are Gemma Arterton and District 9’s Sharlto Copely. Arterton will be a secretary back in the 1969 version of the MIB and Copely will play what Pajiba describes as a “fast-talking Yoda type alien”. Copley has made the transition from hanging out with aliens to actually becoming one.
Already in the cast along with Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith reprising their traditional MIB roles, is Jemaine Clement. Like Copley he’s playing an alien, but he’s the movie’s villain.

Guillermo Del Toro Is NOT Directing Godzilla
Recently Latino Review reported that he was offered the chance to direct the new Godzilla reboot. However, according to HitFix, Del Toro says that's not exactly true.
That was Del Toros first reaction according to Drew McWeeny, over at HitFix. He reports he caught up with Director Guillermo Del Toro and asked him about recent rumors that he's been tapped to helm Legendary Pictures new Godzilla reboot. As reported yesterday by Latino Review.
This is what the director had to say, once the rumor was explained to him.
"I am not involved in 'Godzilla' at all," Guillermo replied "I haven't read it or plan to read it. Nor have I been approached to direct it."
Drew goes on to say.
That sounds pretty definitive to me. I've known Guilermo a long time, and he's not the sort of guy to shy away from geeking out about this or that potential project. He's a big monster fan, and I'm sure if he was thinking about taking on the King of the Monsters, he'd be happy to share some of that enthusiasm.

DEBUNKED: General Zod NOT the Villain of Superman Reboot
So says newly crowned Superman director Zack Snyder...
Our Italian friends at BadTaste got the scoop... Question: You were recently chosen as the director of Superman. What have you done to defeat other talented directors and what are you planning to do with this new version?
Zack Snyder: I'm not sure what I've done, it wasn't like a run race, which would have been easier to do. Anyway, I think that you have to do your best to describe this world and that the character of Superman needs to be relevant again, without disrespecting his mythology. That's my goal.
Question: The general Zod will be the villain of the movie or it's just a rumour?
Zack Snyder: For now it's just a rumour.

Rhys Ifans IS The Lizard in Spider-Man Reboot
Many believed it, but now The Wrap has learned that Rhys Ifans will be portraying none other than the Lizard in Sony's Spider-man reboot. Check it Out!
Yesterday, Sony announced Welsh actor & musician Rhys Ifans as the latest star to join the upcoming 3D Spider-Man reboot. And while the role was undisclosed, The Wrap has learned that... "Rhys Ifans will play Dr. Curt Connors, better known as The Lizard, in Marc Webb's "Spider-Man" reboot"
While Phillip Seymour Hoffman was rumored for Eddie Brock, Venom, the Wraps' source says that the character would not be appearing in this film, but could show up in sequels. As many know, Secretariat actor Dylan Baker portrayed Dr. Curt Connors in Sam Raimi's trilogy, but evidently never got the opportunity to show the character's true colors; or scales in this case.
Anyhow, Ifans starring alongside Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, Spidey returns to theaters July 3, 2012 in 3D.

Film screenings are complemented by lively and informative Q&A sessions with cast members and filmmakers. So, join us for the 17th Annual Austin Film Festival, October 21-28, 2010 and be the first to see all of the great movies everyone will be talking about next year.
