When there's no more room in hell...
Red Dead Redemption is one of my favorite games I'm playing right now and it looks to be getting a lot better in the near future. The official trailer for the Undead Nightmare down-loadable content pack was released today and it looks sick. Huge crowds of zombies, undead animals, more missions, special weapons and playable zombie characters... what else could you ask for? Oh and did I mention all this takes place in the old west? This game just keeps getting better. No word on the release date but I would assume it's right around the corner as Halloween is only 30 days away.

The Devil and M. Night Shyamalan
Devil is not a bad movie. Devil is not a bad movie. Devil is not a bad movie.
I kept telling myself this while I was watching the M. Night Shyamalan produced, John Dowdle directed, quasi horror movie. The premise is fairly unoriginal, four people trapped on an elevator, police and security watching over security cameras from a far away room, helpless to save the victims as they are one by one killed by an unseen force. No new ground broken there. The characters aren't bad, I enjoyed Geoffry Arend of Super Troopers fame, unfortunately the part he plays is short lived. Jenny O'Hara is serviceable as the creepy old lady, as is the rest of the crew but the ultimate shortcoming in this movie is the inevitable twist. It's a staple of the Shyamalan movie. The third act twist that comes out of nowhere to shock and amaze us at how wonderful a storyteller he is. Like most of M. Night's recent movies the twist is ham-fisted at best, a square peg forced into the proverbial round hole. I won't spoil the ending for anyone I'll just say this, it's nothing we haven't seen before in every movie Shyamalan has ever made. So I keep telling myself, This wasn't a bad movie, This wasn't a bad movie, but the twist is...(pause for effect here)
It really was a bad movie.
This is the future, at least until something better comes along...
The Panasonic AF100
The Panasonic Af100 looks to be the next generation in digital slr video cameras. According to the video below, it has all the great things that have made the indy film world fall in love with the digital slr's, but without all the drawbacks. A couple of the drawbacks addressed by this camera include pro audio connections, the anti-aliasing issue has been addressed as well as the jello effect when shooting fast motion. It comes with all the bells and whistles we've been looking for but without the drawbacks and it's being listed under $6,000 (without lenses). This is a major step forward and could be another blow against the mighty RED camera that was the hype of the industry just a few years ago. With a price this low, and the ability to shoot with a "film like" quality, I say lets do this...
