Shows what we know: Yesterday, when writing about NBC's decision to give full-season orders to
The Event,
Law & Order: L.A., and
Outsourced, we said that the Jerry Bruckheimer–produced
Chase was a "long shot for long-term survival." Well, today, the Peacock decided
Chase was at least worthy of medium-term survival by ordering nine more episodes of the series,
according to a tweet from Jerry Bruckheimer Television president Jonathan Littman (confirmed minutes later by an NBC rep). While the series has been averaging under a 2 rating in the key adults 18 to 49 demo (that's
Jay Leno Show territory), it has been stable in the 10 p.m. Monday slot, and last night even managed to grow a tick. Said NBC Entertainment chief Angela Bromstad: "
Chase has introduced an appealing new star to television audiences in Kelli Giddish and we think it has potential to grow." The Peacock today also made official what's been obvious for some time: 8 p.m. Monday anchor
Chuck, steady at around a 2 demo rating this season, will be back for a full season of spy capers. Meanwhile, NBC still has one new series on the bubble: J.J. Abrams's
Undercovers. Insiders say the network has ordered four scripts of the show and will decide soon whether to order more episodes.
